BYD Unveils the Luxurious Yangwang U7 Electric Car: Leaked Specifications Reveal Nearly 1,300 Horsepower and 500-Mile Range
BYD is gearing up to launch its first-ever ultra-luxurious electric sedan as part of its upscale Yangwang brand. Prior to its official release, specifications for the BYD Yangwang U7 have been leaked, boasting around 1,300 horsepower and a CLTC range of up to 500 miles (800 kilometers).

Yangwang, BYD's luxury arm, recently teased the U7 earlier this month and shared its first image on their Weibo page. The design inspiration for the so-called "million-level new energy flagship sedan" draws from the brand's U9 model.

The U9 supercar, showcased by BYD's Yangwang at a technical briefing in April last year, features four electric motors capable of accelerating from 0 to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) in just 2 seconds.

The all-new Yangwang U7 draws inspiration from the U9 with a "family-style" design language. From the images, one can observe slender LED headlights and roof-mounted laser radar resembling the design cues of its larger sibling. It also features a large lower intake and carbon fiber side skirts, enhancing the sedan's sporty design.

While the front bears resemblance to the Tesla Model S, the rear exudes a Porsche-like feel. The U7 will be built on the e4 platform and feature four electric motors, delivering over 1,000 horsepower.

According to the latest information released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology earlier this month, BYD is preparing to launch the Yangwang U7.

Leaked data reveals that the Yangwang U7 will come equipped with four electric motors, boasting a total output of 1,287 horsepower (960 kW). BYD's Findreams will provide a large 135.5 kWh LFP battery pack, offering a CLTC driving range of up to 497 miles (800 kilometers). The luxury electric vehicle will be available in base models with a range of 447 miles (720 kilometers) and long-range models with a range of 497 miles (800 kilometers).

The new U7 sedan will be launched alongside the U8, the brand's first-ever model introduced in September, a high-end SUV priced at over $150,000 (approximately 1,098,000 RMB). It features 1,200 horsepower, tank steering, tire explosion stability, and other impressive functionalities. In emergencies, it can even navigate through water using the "floating mode".

While pricing is yet to be confirmed, the Yangwang U7 is expected to be priced around $140,000 (approximately 1 million RMB) when BYD unveils it later this year.

BYD's foray into the ultra-luxury electric vehicle market with the Yangwang U7 marks a significant step forward in the company's electric vehicle lineup. With its impressive power and range capabilities, coupled with luxurious features, the U7 aims to set new standards in the electric car industry.
