BYD Unveils Game-Changing 1MW Megawatt Fast Charging Platform — First 500 Stations Now Live Across China
On June 12, 2025, BYD took the stage in Wuhan to unveil its revolutionary "Megawatt Fast Charging" technology at its latest e-Platform event. With the debut of the new Han L and Tang L models, BYD is not just launching vehicles—it’s rewriting the rulebook for EV infrastructure and charging speeds.

Flash Charge: 400km Range in Just 5 Minutes
At the heart of the announcement is BYD’s industry-first mass-production 1000V "Super e-Platform," a unified high-voltage EV architecture that integrates the battery, motor, and power systems under a 1000V/1000A design. The star feature? The ability to deliver up to 1 megawatt (1000kW) of charging power, enabling a staggering peak speed of 2 kilometers of range per second. That means just a five-minute charge can deliver up to 400 kilometers (250 miles) of driving range.
This breakthrough promises to solve one of the most persistent pain points in EV adoption: long-distance travel and charging wait times.

Nationwide Deployment: First 500 Stations Go Live
BYD has already rolled out the first 500 proprietary megawatt charging stations across China, with another 4,000+ currently under construction. In a strategic push to accelerate user adoption, the company has also announced collaborations with top domestic charging network operators to expand access and compatibility.

Compatible, Efficient, and Smart
The Han L EV and Tang L EV, the first vehicles to adopt this platform, feature backward compatibility with existing 500V and 750V public chargers. Using dual-gun (dual-port) charging, they can double the charging power, while even single-port charging maintains high output up to 90% battery capacity. Compared to the current industry average, total charging time is reduced by over 40%.
In cold climates, BYD’s integrated self-heating battery technology boosts charging speed by up to 53%, addressing another common EV challenge—low-temperature performance.

Insane Performance Meets Smart Technology
Both the Han L and Tang L plug-in hybrids come equipped with a record-breaking electric motor boasting a 30,000 RPM top speed, enabling 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) acceleration in just 2.7 seconds.
Beyond speed, BYD has outfitted both models with its next-gen DiLink 150 smart cockpit powered by a cutting-edge 4nm chip, and the "God Eye B" intelligent driving system, offering autonomous driving support on highways and in urban areas.
Adding to the tech package is the Yun Nian predictive suspension, which actively scans up to 15 meters ahead and adjusts damping in real-time to reduce body roll and enhance comfort.

Designed for Young Drivers and Modern Families
  • Han L: Positioned as a flagship sedan for younger tech-savvy buyers.

  • Tang L: A premium family SUV targeting spaciousness, luxury, and intelligent driving.

Prices in China range from ¥209,800 to ¥289,800 (approx. $29,200 to $40,300 USD), making them highly competitive in the high-performance EV and PHEV segments.
